Privora’s operating perspective

The November CPN programme

The Computer Professionals (Registration Council of Nigeria), or CPN, lists “Cloud Security and Data Protection in Hybrid Environments” for 12–13 November 2026 in Kaduna. This is a professional development programme. Consult CPN’s official listing for participation arrangements and any updates.

The topic creates a useful opening for privacy leads and IT service owners to compare their understanding of the same system. Our preparation note focuses on that working relationship; it does not describe or predict the programme’s teaching content.

Follow the service across the boundary

A service may use an internal application, a hosted platform and an external support provider. Each team may understand its own part while holding a different picture of the whole. A configuration change or supplier handoff can expose that gap when the privacy team asks who can access information or where an outstanding review sits.

Choose one service and describe its data movement in ordinary language. Identify the teams and suppliers involved, the information each receives, the reason for that movement and where the supporting records sit. Keep open supplier questions beside the relevant part of the service rather than in a separate inbox thread.

Bring privacy and IT into the same review

The first discussion should produce a shared view of what is known and what needs checking. A supplier statement is useful evidence to assess, rather than a reason to stop asking how the service operates in your organisation.

  • Which personal data moves between the environments, and for what purpose?
  • Who can approve, change and review access at each handoff?
  • Which supplier answers or service records still need to be checked?
  • Who will investigate a change that affects the current assessment?

Give each unanswered question an owner

After the review, record the next action, its owner and the evidence that will support a decision. Be specific about what would resolve the question. “Confirm support access and record the review” is easier to continue than “follow up with IT”.

For advisory firms working across clients, retain that context with the engagement. For internal teams, connect it to the service owner’s record. This is the Privacy Operations improvement Privora is concerned with: the next person can see what remains open and move it forward without replaying the entire discussion.
